Beyond Lanthorn

Learning together, out in the world.

Alongside Lanthorn, I volunteer with the AI Collective, working with people who want to understand AI and explore what it means for their communities and their work.

Where I volunteer

Building community on the Space Coast

Jürgen Schwanitz and I started the AI Collective’s Space Coast chapter to bring people together around AI. Since then, we’ve grown a local community through a variety of events—from practical demonstrations and hands-on learning to open conversations about what AI means for our lives and work.

Each gathering gives people a chance to ask questions, share what they know and connect with others who are curious about AI.

Keeping people in the conversation

As co-chair of the AI Collective’s Humanity Committee, I’m interested in how we keep people at the center of conversations about AI—making room for questions, concerns and different perspectives alongside the possibilities.

Drawing on our Space Coast town hall, I developed a draft kit to help other communities host welcoming, practical conversations about AI in everyday life. The committee is reviewing and shaping it together.

Sparks: the community is the curriculum

I conceived and pitched Sparks as a customized learning and development program for the AI Collective, and have been developing it around a simple idea: members have valuable knowledge to share with one another. Sparks is designed to bring people together in small, human-led learning experiences where they can share what they’ve discovered, try things together and learn from each other.
